Joseph Marioni
Joseph Marioni gilt als einer der führenden Vertreter des New York Radical
Paintings der 70er Jahre. Seine nur scheinbar monochromen Gemälde
ermöglichen eine meditative Versenkung in lichte Farbräume, die durch die
Interaktion lasierender Malschichten erreicht werden. Die Seitenränder der
Bilder legen die Verzahnung dieser Schichten offen und sprechen die taktilen
Wahrnehmungssensibilitäten der Betrachter an.
Joseph Marioni counts as one of the leading representatives of the New York
Radical Paintings of the 70s. His ostensibly monochrome paintings make
possible the meditative sinking into light color spaces that are achieved by
the interaction of glazing layers of paint. The side margins of the
paintings unfold the interlocking of these layers, and address the tactile
sensibility of the viewers’ perception.
