Looking at Christof John\u2019s paintings means being confronted with an immediate shift of states. His works are both precise and blurry, deliberately marked by imperfections. Geometric elements run through them, contrasted by organically soft surfaces. Their structures, grids, and color contrasts feel extroverted, referencing the human-made artificiality of our world. At the same time, their intimate and delicate painterly execution evokes something deeply introverted.John\u2019s paintings contain changes that constantly call for a new comparison and reassessment of visual weight. One cannot remain on the surface, with the mere structure. Their underlying emotionality provokes our inner world, turning the objective against the subjective, the organic against the constructed. Through this continuous opposition, the paintings dismantle themselves, us, and our world that has been pushed away from nature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
