Wenn Räume in sich kehren

Thomas Huber

28 April – 6 June 2014

In its first exhibition after the winter break, the gallery is showing watercolors by Thomas Huber. Since the early 1980s, the Swiss artist has been known for the consistent continuation of a comprehensive cycle of images, in which his works speak not primarily about the world, but about themselves: how images are made, carried into spaces, hung on walls, assembled into exhibitions, and viewed. Perspectives, entering a space, leaving a space, and moving through spaces play a central role in this.
In his Wuppertal exhibition as well, everything revolves around viewpoints and angles of vision. Huber creates a variety of relationships between spaces and viewers, leaving open the question of whether one can find their way within them. What matters most is the willingness to take the risk of moving through them.
